Disneyfied Maori Culture

The Disneyfied area that I have spotted in the modern society of New Zealand is Maori Culture at Tamaki Maori Village Hangi at Rotorua, New Zealand. Base on my research, there are several choices for Hangi feasts and Maori cultural performances in Rotorua, and it seems to have become quite a booming business, as its one of the “must-do” things in Rotorua. Tamaki is one of the better known villages. Since it is the Disneyfied version of Maori culture. The programme will begin with a tour out of the village. Whereby tourist will get the chance to see Rotorua hotels and hostels. Once tourists arrive at the entrance of Tamaki Maori Village the "Haka" ceremony will begin. The ceremony would last about 20 minutes. After the ceremony tourist would than be allowed to enter the village. There would be various displays of handicrafts, and traditional Maori living for tourist to see. Moreover there will be a 30 minutes dance and music performance at the main hall. The hangi feast would be set up in a buffet style, served in a large hall together there will be demonstrations of how the food was made outside the main hall. The main dishes are meat and there would be a beautiful Pavlova for dessert. Tourist will have free flow of juice and a chance to try many different kinds of New Zealand wine for only $2.50 New Zealand Dollar (NZD) per glass. There is a souvenir shop for tourist to buy wood carving pieces and other souvenir items.
